Our founder, James, came up with the idea of Reef back in 2019, where he was travelling around the UK to client meetings but struggled to find a venue to work from where he felt comfortable to work from. He experienced poor WiFi, a lack of plug sockets, no space left + felt the need to buy a drink every 5 minutes to stay.
Having looked to see if there was a simple way to find a venue, the only option was utilising Google Maps + hoping for the best!
He then got to building the Reef platform, and the dreaded Covid pandemic hit. This gave James some time to research with his co-founders Claire & Blagojche the stats around employee wellbeing now companies were being forced to work from home.
After 3 months of working from home, the stats became quite shocking. With most never having worked remotely before, and companies not knowing how to transition, many employees were burning out due to not being able to separate their personal + work lives, and also felt isolated and lonely, due to not being able to meet and collaborate with colleagues face to face. This is when Reef pivoted to become a platform to help companies move into remote/hybrid culture.
